There is a storm shelter located in the City of Beresford, SD. Storm Shelter If severe weather is coming and you need to take shelter, head to the City's Storm Shelter located by the swimming pool in the bathhouse (705 West Main Street). When a Thunderstorm Warning, Tornado Watch, or Tornado Warning is issued for Union County, South Dakota, the Site Coordinator will activate the South Dakota State Alert system, inform persons of the watch or warning and recommend they take shelter in either the Community Safe Room or a secondary shelter area at their discretion. The site coordinator will be responsible for opening the community safe room during severe weather. The Beresford Community Safe Room is the pool bathhouse in Bulow Park, located on West Main Street, between 8th Avenue and 11th Avenue. Permanent exterior signage, in both text and graphic format, at the safe room identifies the facility as a tornado shelter., as well as a red light that will be illuminated on the outside of the building. Interior signage posted within the safe room provides the information that is necessary and appropriate for adequate safe room operations. The population protected in the safe room includes the residents within a half-mile radius of the Community Safe Room. The maximum occupancy of the facility is 310 people.

The City of Beresford, SD offers several different ways to pay your bills. Pay Your Bill Utility & BeresfordTel Bills City of Beresford Utility and Beresford Municipal Telephone Company (BeresfordTel ) bills are mailed out the first of each month and payment is due on the 15th of that month. If payment is not postmarked or received by the 15th, a 5% penalty will be added to the next bill . If the 15th falls on a weekend, you have until the following Monday to pay the bill without penalty. Utility Bill - Includes electric, water, sewer and garbage pickup. Water and electric meters are read on the 20th of each month and those services will be billed the following month (ex: water and electricity consumed between December 21 and January 20 will be billed o n the February 1 bill). BeresfordT el Bill - Telephone, cable, and/or internet is billed prior to use of the service (ex: the January 1 bill is for s ervices used during January). Payment: You can pay your bill(s) using any of the payment options listed below. Parking/Snow Removal Tickets If you receive a Parking Violation or Snow Removal Violation ticket from the Beresford Police department, you must pay the City of Beresford. The withdrawal takes place on the 15th of each month; if the 15th is on a Saturday or Sunday, the withdrawal will be on the following Monday. In 1999 the Department celebrated 100 years of service to the Beresford area. The Beresford Fire Department consists of 40 volunteers that respond to fires and other emergencies in the Beresford Area. The Department typically responds to over 100 various emergencies each year.
